Benefits Administrator
LHH is seeking a Benefits Administrator to support our client's benefits team during a critical period, with a primary focus on day-to-day benefits administration, open enrollment support, employee benefits processing, and vendor coordination. This is an excellent opportunity for a benefits professional with 2-5 years of experience who enjoys being hands-on in the administration and execution of benefits programs.
This role is intended to provide immediate support through the organization's busy open enrollment season. While there is potential for permanent employment, candidates must understand this is initially a contract opportunity through January 31st with no guarantee of conversion.
Location: Raleigh, NC (Hybrid; currently flexible, moving to 3-4 days onsite beginning September with employee choice of remote day) Employment Type: Contract through January 31, 2027, with potential for temp-to-hire conversion Compensation: $30.00-$36.00/hour Start Date: Immediate
Position Overview
The Benefits Administrator will serve as a key member of the HR team, providing hands-on support for benefits programs, employee inquiries, open enrollment activities, benefits invoicing, wellness initiatives, and retirement plan administration.
This is a "doer" role focused on the daily execution of benefits processes rather than strategic benefits planning. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, customer-service focused, and comfortable working directly with employees, vendors, payroll, and HR partners to ensure smooth benefits operations.
Key Responsibilities
Benefits Administration
  • Administer health and welfare benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and wellness offerings.
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, qualifying life events, and terminations.
  • Respond to employee benefit inquiries and provide timely resolution to benefits-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate employee benefit records and documentation.
  • Support ongoing benefits audits and data validation efforts.
Open Enrollment Administration
  • Assist with planning and execution of annual open enrollment.
  • Support employee communications and enrollment education efforts.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth enrollment processing.
  • Audit enrollment data and help resolve eligibility or enrollment discrepancies.
  • Serve as a resource for employee questions during enrollment periods.
Benefits Invoicing & Reconciliations
  • Review and process benefits invoices.
  • Perform monthly billing reconciliations and identify discrepancies.
  • Partner with payroll, finance, and vendors to resolve billing issues.
  • Maintain accurate funding and payment records.
Retirement & 401(k) Administration
  • Support day-to-day administration of the company's 401(k) program.
  • Assist with funding activities, employee enrollments, distributions, and loan requests.
  • Coordinate with vendors and payroll to ensure accurate processing.
  • Support retirement plan reporting and audit activities as needed.
Wellness Programs & Communications
  • Coordinate wellness initiatives and employee engagement activities.
  • Create and distribute benefits communications and educational materials.
  • Assist with employee awareness campaigns and benefits-related announcements.
Vendor & System Coordination
  • Work closely with benefit vendors, carriers, and third-party administrators.
  • Support outsourced benefits administration platforms.
  • Assist with issue resolution and escalations involving employees and vendors.
  • Maintain accurate data between systems and vendors.
Reporting & Compliance
  • Run and review benefits reports and audits.
  • Assist with compliance-related activities involving ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Maintain documentation and records in accordance with company policies.
Required Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of corporate benefits administration experience.
  • Experience supporting employee benefit programs in a corporate environment.
  • Experience with:
    • Benefits administration

  • Strong customer service and employee support skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with outsourced benefits administration platforms such as:

  • Experience with ServiceNow (preferred but not required; training available).
  • Experience working with HRIS systems such as Workday, Oracle, ADP, UKG, SAP, or related platforms.
  • Experience supporting open enrollment in a medium to large organization.
