Job description

Job Title: CNC Mill Machinist

Job Description

This role focuses on operating and setting up CNC mills to produce precision machined parts in a custom job shop environment. You will load and unload material, perform machine setups and offsets, make basic program edits at the controls when needed, and verify part quality through various inspections. The position offers the opportunity to work with Mazak equipment and Mazatrol conversational controls while contributing to both short-run and production machining work.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC mills to produce precision parts according to work orders, blueprints, and job travelers.
  • Set up CNC machines, including installing and touching off tooling, setting work offsets, and verifying correct programs are loaded.
  • Load and unload material and parts into the machine, ensuring proper fixturing and secure work holding.
  • Perform first article inspections, in-process random inspections, and final inspections to verify parts meet specifications and tolerances.
  • Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools to inspect parts and document measurements as required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to understand dimensions, tolerances, features, and machining sequence, then set up the job accordingly.
  • Make program edits at the machine controls when applicable, particularly with Mazatrol or conversational machining programs.
  • Perform tooling changes, including installing, replacing, and adjusting cutting tools to maintain part quality and productivity.
  • Monitor machine operation, identify issues such as tool wear or dimensional drift, and make appropriate adjustments to offsets or setup.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including machines, tools, and measuring equipment.
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to ensure efficient workflow and on-time completion of jobs.
  • Participate in cross-training on additional machines (such as CNC lathes) as needed, based on experience and shop requirements.
  • Follow all shop safety procedures, including use of required personal protective equipment and safe operation of machinery.

Shifts:

1st: 6am-4pm (4 day work Week)

2nd: 3pm-1:00am (4 day work Week)

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mechanicsburg, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $40.00/hr.
