Overview
Are you a leader? Energetic? Ever worked as part of a program that is Agile? Are you interested in being an agent of change on a team committed to achieving client-focused, mission-driven excellence?
Steampunk is seeking a Project Manager who is creative and is a hands-on expert with delivering innovative technology solutions.
Responsibilities will include team leadership for the complete life cycle of solution development and delivery, providing Agile Project Management support and Scrum Master support for Agile teams, coordinating with product owners and stakeholders on prioritizing the backlog, creating release schedules and roadmaps based on assessment recommendations, and establishing technical practices and release management standards that align with the customer's process. This individual will also ensure the team is following, and effective at, Agile scrum processes as well as driving high client satisfaction.
Contributions
As a Project Manager, you will be leading the project tasking and delivery in a government client consulting environment. You will be a client liaison, team coach, and mentor.
You will also:
  • Manage and maintain successful/results-oriented relationships with the client, as well as identify and pursue new opportunities with existing client.
  • Develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, manage remote project delivery team, and possess the ability to facilitate technical discussions to troubleshoot project implementation issues.
  • Assess the current organization and delivery environment and recommend optimal Agile practices tailored to the client.
  • Provide the Agile Scrum Master support. Attend Agile ceremonies and provide input as needed.
  • Remove blockers to ensure project success.
  • Coach the Product Owner and team on backlog refinement and prioritization.
  • Handle challenging client situations and offer technical and business guidance and direction to client executives.
  • Lead and manage staff, monitor staff performance.
  • Evaluate project feasibility, eliminate non-productive tasking, and find creative ways to ensure project delivery and if feasible accelerate delivery.
  • Assist staff with training needs to create skills expansion and career advancement opportunities.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government Public Trust Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years managing IT projects using agile methodologies and approaches
  • 5+ year experience with Scrum/Kanban Methodologies
  • Ability to establish immediate credibility with clients, build consensus, and achieve goals through influence
  • Flexibility to work with teams, individuals, and executives and willingness to help with a wide variety of work products and people
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working in a complex engineering environment
  • Local to the Washington, DC Metro area
  • Required to be onsite 2x per week

Preferred:
  • Experience working in a studio / human centered design approach
  • PMP or PMI CAPM
  • Certified Scrum Master
