Role: Project Manager – Pharmaceutical Capital Projects

Location: Richmond, VA (100% Onsite)

Duration: 12+ Months (Potential Extension up to 3+ Years)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support large-scale capital expansion projects within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role will be responsible for driving project execution, managing budgets and schedules, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring successful delivery of CAPEX projects ranging from $10M to $25M.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major site expansion initiative while working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Validation, Quality, and senior leadership teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage pharmaceutical CAPEX projects valued between $10M and $25M.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, resource plans, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate activities across Engineering, Manufacturing, Validation, Quality Assurance, and external vendors.
  • Support site expansion and facility build-out initiatives, ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget.
  • Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Monitor project performance and provide regular updates to stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Ensure project activities comply with GMP, regulatory, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project execution and operational efficiency.
  • Facilitate cross-functional communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Life Sciences, or a related technical field.
  • 5–10+ years of Project Management experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience managing capital projects ranging from $10M to $25M.
  • Strong understanding of GMP regulations and pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects from planning through execution and closeout.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and drive projects forward with minimal supervision.
