Purpose of Role:

Reporting to Senior Geologist, the Geologist is responsible primarily for Core Logging, RC Logging and geotechnical logging, though field activities may also be required.

This role will be located at the Copper World Project, approximately 45 minutes southwest of Tucson near Sahuarita, Arizona. In addition, the Geologist will have to spend some weeks on the Mason Project in Yerington, Nevada, 1.5 hours driving from Reno airport.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Perform detailed logging of drill core using tablets or laptops, recording lithology, alteration, structures, veining, and mineralization.
  • Ensuring drill rigs are properly orientated as specified by the Senior Mine Geologist or designate.
  • Coordinating with the Chief Mine Geologist or Senior Geologist, make decisions on ending drill holes or deepening drill holes based on results and drilling conditions.
  • As needed, also records geotechnical data including RQD, rock hardness, and magnetic susceptibility.
  • As needed, geologic field mapping and sample collection.
  • Confirm that core sampling by core cutters is done in a way that maximizes safety and quality. Drill database updates and validation.
  • Understands and uses computer software and applications associated with geological assignments.
  • Blast holes sampling basic experience.
  • Complies with Company's Safety Awareness program, office and or field safety policies.
  • Performs other related geological work as required.
  • Performs daily safety audits at drill rig sit.

Candidates must be able to perform all the tasks mentioned.

Work schedule anticipated seven (7) 12-hour working days per 14 day period. Expected term is 12 months.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology, mining or related discipline or the sciences from a four-year accredited college or University, or demonstrated equivalent
  • Experience: One (1) to two (2) years of experience in the geological field, drilling, exploration or mine.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current MSHA.
  • Experience logging drill core.
  • Experience with porphyry copper and copper skarn deposits.
  • Basic Knowledge of Mining software, MinePlan, Leapfrog, Acquire.
