Job Description:

General Objectives:

The Exploration Geologist is a salaried, exempt position and typically works a four-day workweek on-site. Responsible for the production of mine site, geological mapping, and interpretation. This position will primarily be accountable for RC chip logging, core logging, and photographing chips/core and uploading to cloud-based storage. The position is responsible for generating maps and cross sections in a timely and accurate manner. This position will assist with the completion of daily, month-end, annual, and other departmental production reports.

Key Areas of Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Develop and execute drilling programs to discover, define, and develop the resources within Marigold's tenement.
  • Log RC and core samples and updated the geology models.
  • Communicate logging findings, concerns, or potential inconsistencies with the resource modeling team for resolution or investigation.
  • Use Leapfrog 3D modeling software to validate logging and check for consistency.
  • Assist with pit and outcrop mapping and data analysis for both geological modeling and interpretation and mineral evaluation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of the principles and methods used in an open-pit mining operation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with various individuals, crews, departments, and organizational levels.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex or diverse information.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (B.S) in Geology or Geologic engineering.
  • 0-5 years of experience in open-pit hard rock mining or in an exploration environment preferred. Candidates with more experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience using mine modeling software; MineSight & Leapfrog preferred. GIS and CAD programs are helpful.
