Job description

Geotemps, Inc. is recruiting for a Core Logging Geologist position. This position is located outside of Juneau, AK on a surface gold mining operation. The Core Logging Geologist must be able to learn the data collection workflow, understand interpreting geological data, have excellent communication skills, and be able to live in a camp setting. Traveling expenses to and from the Juneau area may be paid by client. Roles and Responsibilities:
• Participation in drilling campaigns
• Drill core logging- keeping accurate detailed records of drill core data
• Sampling- determining appropriate intervals for sampling and accurately sample
• Report to the Senior or Project Geologist • Other duties might include- picking up core from drill site, wrapping and moving pallets, shoveling other types of physical work to maintain work area.
Qualifications, Technical Skills, and Management Knowledge:
• Prior experience living in a remote camp setting; prior working in Alaska is a plus
• Demonstrated proficiency in multiple computer applications including MS office suite
• Data entry using site determined software and entering drill core data accurately
• Follow quality assurance/control methods in logging and sampling
• Adhering to site safety practices at all times
• Highly motivated, resourceful, with a demonstrated ability to work well with limited supervision
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, able to write and log data for long periods of time
• Must be able to communicate well and work in a dynamic, fast paced, team oriented environment
• The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, walk on uneven terrain, sit and stand for extended periods of time
• Work in inclement weather conditions- exposed to wet/humid, outside conditions
• Ability to work night shifts
• Attend site specific MSHA class
Requirements/Certifications:
• Safety or steel-toed boots- all other PPE such as hard hat, safety vest, ear and eye protection are provided by the client
• A Bachelor of Science in Geology, Geological Engineering, Geophysics or related field is required
• Pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check
