Job description

Registration Clerk

The Registration Clerk assists members with Child Care Fund registration, guides program selection, and provides counseling on available services. This temporary position runs from August 2026 to November 2026. The hours for the position are Monday to Friday from 9- 6pm, with some evening shifts, Saturdays, and occasional fieldwork.

Responsibilities

  • Support members by assessing eligibility, guiding application completion, and registering eligible 1199SEIU Child Care Fund members for childcare benefits in person, online, and virtually.
  • Enter member applications and program information, meeting daily quotas as required.
  • Update submitted applications with system-entered data.
  • Manage high-volume phone calls and emails.
  • Must complete a three-week training program to learn how to help members with Child Care Fund services and program choices.
  • Assist members in determining eligibility and completing applications.
  • Maintain accurate files and records while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Travel to select field locations within the metropolitan area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; some college preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years' work experience in an office environment and strong customer service experience required.
  • Excellent data entry skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel, and ability to navigate web-based applications, is desirable.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus (Spanish, Creole, French, Mandarin, etc.).
