Job description

Location: Menands, NY Salary: Negotiable Description: Our client is currently seeking a OSP Engineer - III
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Outside Plant (OSP) Construction Engineer to lead the design and implementation of high-capacity network infrastructure projects. This role focuses on aerial, underground, and buried fiber and copper deployments, supporting Client's Outside Plant telephony network. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in construction engineering, permitting, and cross-functional coordination across residential, commercial, and municipal environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and engineer upgrades, additions, and repairs to OSP infrastructure including poles, conduit systems, and cabling.
  • Conduct field surveys to assess cable paths, power sources, and space requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal Client teams and external stakeholders including builders, property managers, and end users.
  • Price and select optimal solutions based on cost, efficiency, and timelines.
  • Manage multiple projects and coordinate tasks assigned to other engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with NYS DOT permitting standards and lead times.
  • Maintain accurate documentation using Client systems (Canvas, vBuild, CCP, ICGS/IDDS, NTAS, CLLinet).
  • Support ASR/CNE case workload designs and Fiber to the Cell Site (FTTCS) initiatives.

Required Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of Client OSP HiCap Engineering processes.
  • Familiarity with Client systems and tools.
  • Ability to travel for field visits across the Capital Region of Upstate NY, including Columbia, Greene, Utica, Rome, and Oneonta.
  • Proficient in Windows-based programs and corporate databases.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments independently with a proactive mindset.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with IEN tasking.
  • Experience in high-volume OSP construction projects.
