Job description

Job Title: Production Worker

Job Description

The Production Worker plays a key role in building high-quality composite boat components by following detailed blueprints and work instructions. This position involves hands-on work with fiberglass, lamination, grinding, and assembly, ensuring each part meets strict quality and safety standards while supporting overall production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Review blueprints and follow detailed work instructions for each composite part.
  • Trim, assemble, and finish composite components to precise specifications.
  • Inspect parts to verify accuracy, structural integrity, and surface quality.
  • Use hand tools and related equipment to perform grinding, chipping, and other finishing tasks.
  • Assist with various stages of boat building, including pouring materials into molds, fiberglass work, lamination, and assembly.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition and report any issues promptly.
  • Document work accurately according to company guidelines and production requirements.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to lamination-area protocols.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards to support production flow and product quality.
  • Take direction from team leads and collaborate with teammates to meet daily and long-term production goals.
  • Participate in cross-training across different production tasks and departments as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions and basic blueprints.
  • Experience or strong comfort with using hand tools for grinding, cutting, and assembly tasks.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as grinding, chipping, and sanding with attention to detail.
  • Comfort working with fiberglass, lamination materials, and related marine components.
  • Ability to stand and walk for 8 or more hours per shift and regularly bend, lift, and twist.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as needed.
  • Dependable attendance and reliability in following scheduled work hours.
  • Positive attitude and strong willingness to learn new tasks and processes.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to follow instructions accurately and work collaboratively.
  • Comfort working in dusty, loud, non–climate-controlled environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience or interest in marine, boat building, carpentry, construction, or similar hands-on trades.
  • Experience in fiberglass work, lamination, or composite manufacturing is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to adapt to cross-training and learn multiple roles within the production process.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Willingness to wear appropriate PPE, including safety glasses and respirators when required.

Why Work Here?

Employees benefit from a supportive peer environment that encourages learning and skill development, with frequent opportunities to take on new tasks and expand their capabilities. Some departments offer clear paths for advancement, allowing motivated individuals to grow their careers over time. Team members take pride in contributing to the production of high-quality boats with a strong reputation in the market, creating a sense of accomplishment and ownership in the work they do.

Work Environment

This role is based in a large warehouse production facility that is not climate controlled, so temperatures can become very hot during the summer months. The environment includes a mild odor from paint and lamination processes, and the work area can be dusty and loud due to active manufacturing operations. Safety is a priority, with some workers wearing full PPE and respirators depending on the task, while most wear safety glasses as standard protection. The setting is hands-on, fast-paced, and team-oriented, with frequent use of hand tools and exposure to fiberglass, lamination materials, and other boat-building components.
