Job description

Job Title: Welding EngineerJob Description

The Welding Engineer provides daily technical support for welding and dispense operations within a highly automated body shop environment. This role focuses on troubleshooting welding and dispense equipment issues, improving process reliability and quality, and supporting maintenance and production teams in implementing continuous improvements aligned with established standards.

Responsibilities
  • Provide daily welding and dispense technical support to Maintenance and Quality teams in a production body shop environment.
  • Serve as a technical resource for troubleshooting welding and dispense-related equipment failures to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
  • Coach and teach maintenance team members to strengthen their troubleshooting skills and technical understanding of welding and dispense systems.
  • Act as one of the technical resources for GMW standards and help ensure welding processes comply with these requirements.
  • Support Quality and Production teams in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in welding and dispense processes.
  • Contribute to process optimization efforts in a heavily automated department that is introducing new robots and upgrading existing equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the plant floor and in the engineering office to resolve technical issues and implement process improvements.
  • Adapt to changing production needs by working overtime, off-shift, and rotating shifts as required to support operations.
Essential Skills
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

The role operates primarily in a production and manufacturing environment (approximately 75% of the time) and partially in an engineering office setting (approximately 25% of the time), supporting the body shop group. The department is heavily automated and is actively bringing in new robots and upgrading existing ones, offering exposure to advanced automation and robotics technologies. Personal protective equipment must be worn at all times, including safety glasses, high-visibility vests, and arm covers. The facility is a large-scale automotive manufacturing site with thousands of employees and extensive plant operations, providing opportunities for career growth and advancement into other departments or leadership roles. The position may require working overtime, off-shifts, and rotating shifts to meet production demands.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wentzville, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $44.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
