Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $35.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Health and Human Services. This position is located at 115 Market St, Suite 201., Durham, NC 27701.
This position requires licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of North Carolina. An Occupational Therapist (OT) working at the CDSA will conduct eligibility determination evaluations for children referred to the ITP using standardized testing tools and informal evaluation methods such as observation and caregiver reports. They are responsible for evaluating the adaptive, communication, motor, cognitive and social-emotional development of children birth-three to determine eligibility for ITP services. The OT will also complete developmental assessments, provide consultation and support to families and other direct services CDSA staff, assist with the development of family service plans in collaboration with other team members, and provide treatment services as needed. They will manage multiple tasks while adhering to timelines when submitting documentation.
Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.
Management Preferences
  • Considerable knowledge of occupational therapy principles, techniques, methods, modalities, and their proper application with the population served.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and conduct training and in-service education for CDSA staff and providers. Ability to prepare and evaluate reports, including medical, social and departmental records.
  • Ability to evaluate patient response and progress and to present evaluative reports in case staffing's and multi-disciplinary team meetings.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, clients' families, medical personnel, other CDSA staff members, other service providers and community partners in a sensitive and respectful manner.
