IMPORTANT VA EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: To be eligible for this VA assignment, all RN nursing degrees held by the candidate, regardless of degree level (ASN/ADN, BSN, MSN, etc.), must be from nursing programs that were ACEN or CCNE accredited at the time of graduation. Nexus MedPro Staffing is seeking an experienced Ambulatory Surgery Registered Nurse (RN) for an exciting local contract opportunity at the Miami VA Medical Center in Miami, Florida.
Location: Miami, FLโ€จFacility: Miami VA Medical Centerโ€จSpecialty: Ambulatory Surgery / Pre-Op / Post-Opโ€จShift: 11:30 AMโ€“8:00 PMโ€จPay Rate: $45โ€“$50/hour, based on experience and qualificationsโ€จAssignment Duration: Approximately 37 weeks, through May 11, 2027โ€จ
Position Overview
The Ambulatory Medical Surgery Unit RN provides pre-operative, pre-procedure, post-operative, and post-procedure nursing care to Veterans undergoing surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures involving moderate sedation and/or anesthesia.
The RN will support multiple procedural and specialty areas while ensuring safe patient preparation, recovery, education, and follow-up.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide pre-operative and pre-procedure nursing assessments and preparation
* Provide post-operative and post-procedure recovery care
* Monitor patients receiving or recovering from moderate sedation and anesthesia
* Assess patient condition and respond appropriately to clinical changes
* Support nursing care across procedural areas including:
* Operating Room
* Cardiac Catheterization Lab
* Pulmonary Lab
* CT/MRI, including pre- and post-hydration
* GI Suites
* Interventional Radiology
* Pain Clinic
* Conduct daily post-operative and post-procedure follow-up telephone calls
* Provide additional clinical coverage for:
* Urology Clinic
* Pain Clinic
* Wound Care
* Pre-Anesthesia Clinic
* Educate patients and families regarding procedures, recovery, and follow-up care
* Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals
* Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
* Support patient safety and continuity of care throughout the procedural experience
Schedule
Shift: 11:30 AMโ€“8:00 PM
Candidates must be available to work weekends and holidays as required by the unit.
Requirements
* Current, full, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license from any U.S. state
* Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
* Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
* Ambulatory Surgery, Pre-Op, Post-Op, PACU, procedural nursing, GI, Interventional Radiology, Cath Lab, or comparable experience preferred
* Experience caring for patients undergoing moderate sedation and/or anesthesia strongly preferred
* Strong clinical assessment, patient education, communication, and documentation skills
* Ability to work effectively across multiple procedural and specialty service lines
