About AMPERA

AMPERA is redefining clean, sovereign energy with compact, ultra-safe nuclear systems that power AI, industry, and defense with zero emissions and unmatched reliability. Our modular micro-reactors combine the best of fusion and fission to deliver scalable, deployable, and inherently safe energy anywhere — from AI data centers to remote or defense operations.

As a rapidly growing company, AMPERA merges the agility of a startup with the ambition of a global innovator. Joining us means contributing to a bold mission to revolutionize how the world generates power through AI-driven reactor intelligence, autonomous control systems, and advanced software engineering.

Position Overview

AMPERA is seeking an experienced AI / Software Engineer to develop intelligent control, simulation, and data analytics systems for the company's next-generation micro-reactors. This role will focus on applying machine learning, automation, and high-performance computing to enhance reactor safety, predictive diagnostics, and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in software development, data science, and systems integration — with a passion for applying AI and computational methods to complex physical and engineering systems.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement AI models and algorithms for real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and process optimization.

Develop and maintain simulation tools that integrate reactor physics, control systems, and operational data.

Create scalable data pipelines and automation workflows for experimental and reactor test environments.

Collaborate with nuclear, mechanical, and controls engineers to embed intelligent decision-making into control architectures.

Build digital twins of reactor subsystems to evaluate performance under simulated and real-world conditions.

Develop software applications and APIs using Python, C++, or JavaScript frameworks for visualization, data analysis, and control interfaces.

Implement cybersecurity and data integrity measures for mission-critical systems.

Support deployment of AI systems across cloud and edge computing environments.

Contribute to research publications, technical reports, and internal knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field.

5+ years of experience in software development, machine learning, or AI systems engineering.

Strong programming skills in Python, C++, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar frameworks.

Experience with simulation tools, digital twins, or high-performance computing (HPC) preferred.

Knowledge of control systems, reinforcement learning, or physics-informed AI is a plus.

Familiarity with nuclear, energy, or industrial automation domains is advantageous.

Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.

U.S. citizenship or eligibility for security clearance may be required.

What We Offer

Competitive salary

Comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, dental, vision, STD, LTD, Life/AD&D and 401(k).

Opportunity to pioneer advanced nuclear fuel technologies driving the next generation of clean energy.

Collaborative, mission-driven environment that fosters technical excellence and innovation.

Career advancement potential as AMPERA expands its fuel development and reactor manufacturing programs.
