Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department
Vista Medical Center East & Lindenhurst Free-Standing Emergency Center
Location: Waukegan & Lindenhurst, Illinois
Employment Type: Temporary - 13 weeks (36 hours per week)
Shift: Various Shifts Available (Days, Nights, Weekends)
Pay: Days - $70/hr, Nights - $75/hr

Vista Medical Center is seeking skilled and compassionate Registered Nurses to join our Emergency Department team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced nurses seeking flexible scheduling, supplemental income, or short-term assignments in a dynamic healthcare environment.
As a Temporary Emergency Department RN, you will provide high-quality nursing care to patients of all ages while collaborating with physicians, advanced practice providers, patient care technicians, and interdisciplinary team members in a fast-paced emergency setting.
What You'll Do
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for emergency department patients.
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and identify patient care needs.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately.
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to changes in status.
  • Provide emergency interventions and support during critical situations.
  • Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to coordinate care and discharge planning.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care.
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record.
  • Adhere to infection prevention standards, patient safety initiatives, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote exceptional patient experiences through professional communication and service excellence.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (ASN or BSN).
  • Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and manage multiple patients effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years Previous Emergency Department experience preferred.
  • Experience working in fast-paced acute care environments.
  • Familiarity with emergency triage, trauma, and critical care practices.
Required/Obtained Within Designated Timeframes
  • ACLS within 90 days
  • PALS within 90 days
  • NIHSS within 90 days
  • CPI Training within 90 days
  • FEMA 100 & 200 Certifications within 3 months
  • ECRN License within 1 year
  • TNCC within 1 year (unless currently certified)
