Job description

Aerospace Quality Engineer
Location: Chatsworth, CA
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
Payrate: $40.00-55.00 DOE

Position Summary
The Aerospace Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting customer interactions related to Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action, including continuous improvement initiatives, within an aerospace manufacturing and FAA Repair Station environment. This role focuses on process improvement, failure investigations, FRACAS analysis, and monitoring repair station activity status to ensure compliance with aerospace regulatory requirements and customer expectations.
The position works closely with production, engineering, and management teams to analyze quality data, investigate issues, implement corrective actions, and provide regular reporting on operational and quality performance.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Investigations & Root Cause Analysis
  • Lead investigations related to product nonconformances, escapes, and operational issues.
  • Perform structured root cause analysis using methodologies such as 5-Why, Fishbone, and Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
FRACAS Management
  • Manage the Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS).
  • Track and analyze failure trends and recurring issues.
  • Ensure corrective actions are implemented and verified for effectiveness.
Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing, inspection, and repair processes.
  • Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, and compliance.
Repair Station Support
  • Monitor and report on the status of repair station activities and quality issues.
  • Ensure work performed within the repair station meets regulatory and internal quality requirements.
  • Support internal reviews and reporting of repair station quality performance.
Reporting & Communication
  • Develop and maintain status reports related to investigations, corrective actions, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Present findings and recommendations to management and operational teams.
  • Coordinate with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure timely resolution of issues.
Compliance & Quality Management System
  • Support compliance with aerospace quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining quality documentation and procedures.
  • Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement activities within the Quality Management System.
Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related technical field required
  • Minimum 3โ€“5 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing or repair station environments.
  • Experience with quality investigations, corrective actions, and process improvement.
  • Experience with FRACAS systems and failure analysis.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and develop actionable improvements.
  • Experience preparing status reports and quality metrics.
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality systems such as AS9100.
  • Knowledge of regulatory environments such as FAA Repair Station operations.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
