Temporary Buyer Specialist (Aerospace Industry)


Location: Whippany, NJ

Employment Type: Temporary (3 Months – Potential for Direct Hire)

Shift / Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Pay Rate: $35.00 – $38.00 / hour


About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Buyer Specialist with a strong background in the aerospace industry to join our client's team in Whippany, NJ for a 3-month contract (with potential for permanent hire).


In this role, you will manage procurement operations for critical components, materials, and services to support high-precision manufacturing. You will work closely with trusted suppliers and internal teams to ensure strict compliance, high quality, and on-time delivery in a fast-paced aerospace environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement & Sourcing: Purchase products, raw materials, and specialized services to support aerospace production schedules.
  • Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and monitor aerospace suppliers for quality, reliability, pricing, and on-time delivery performance.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate contracts, pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost savings while maintaining strict quality standards.
  • PO Execution: Create, issue, and manage purchase orders (POs), ensuring exact accuracy of specifications, part numbers, and documentation.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels and plan timely replenishing to avoid production delays, shortages, or overstock.
  • Order Tracking & Logistics: Track order statuses, expedite critical shipments, and follow up proactively on delayed or incomplete deliveries.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal production, quality, engineering, and finance teams.
  • Discrepancy Resolution: Resolve vendor issues regarding quality, quantity, or delivery discrepancies in compliance with industry quality standards.
  • Compliance & Records: Maintain accurate purchasing records, compliance documentation, and audit trails in accordance with company policies and aerospace regulations.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 1–3+ years of purchasing or buying experience within the Aerospace industry (or closely related high-spec manufacturing sector) required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with aerospace quality standards, supply chain requirements, and vendor compliance.
  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong Negotiation: Proven ability to negotiate favorable terms and build strong vendor relationships.
  • Detail-Oriented: Exceptional organization skills and high attention to detail for handling complex technical specifications.
  • Problem Solver: Excellent communication skills with a track record of resolving supplier and delivery issues effectively.
