The Louisiana State Penitentiary is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Coordinator 1, 2, 3, or 4. This position provides administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of assigned departments within a correctional environment.
The Administrative Coordinator will be responsible for performing a variety of administrative duties, including preparing correspondence and reports, maintaining records, processing personnel and financial documents, coordinating schedules, entering and maintaining data, and providing customer service to staff and the public. The incumbent will also ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures while supporting daily operational needs.
This position requires strong organizational, communication, and computer skills, as well as the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and work effectively in a structured and secure environment.

Job Duties:
  • Performs responsible departmental-program duties in accordance with rules, regulations, and policies. May involve communication with other departments, customers, etc.
  • Serves as liaison and/or contact person for the department or office between and amongst other departments, customers, vendors, and agencies.
  • Serves as assistant to a manager, which could include keeping appointment schedule, preparing travel, issuing directives to others on their behalf, and relieving the manager of administrative matters.

Work Environment:
  • Employee will work with: Adult male inmates of all custody levels - minimum, medium, maximum (death row), and protective custody.

Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
  • Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
