Job description

Job Summary
James Avery is excited to announce an Engineering internship in Manufacturing. The Engineering Intern will have an opportunity to work with experienced professionals to support Logo Conversion engineering efforts.
This opportunity is a 6-Month Engineering Project Internship available at our Manufacturing Facility in Hondo, TX.
The Engineering Intern will develop and apply skills through structured training and practical application to successfully contribute with hands-on engineering projects in a manufacturing environment, supporting ongoing engineering efforts to improve process efficiencies through deployment of new technologies and validations. Responsibilities include assisting with CAD design and 3D printing projects, equipment setup and validation, and collecting and analyzing data related to time studies, yield improvements and safety performance to support manufacturing initiatives. Actively participates in departmental meetings by preparing periodic reports on learnings and progress. Collaborates and participates in discussions to identify opportunities for improvements on assigned projects.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
  • Performs the following essential functions closely supervised by the Manufacturing Engineer, Section Leader and/or Management:
  • Assists with validating new equipment sets and technologies and defines working procedures for manufacturing associates.
  • Performs 3D jewelry scanning, 3D printing, fixturing assembly and programming of laser system to support manufacturing initiatives.
  • Helps review safety features and aspects of new equipment sets and technologies and collaborates with the training department on creating training documentation.
  • Observes and notes recommendations for continuous improvements that could enhance quality, efficiency and review collected data with Team Mentor or Leader.
  • Performs engineering time studies using basic statistics following established procedure.
  • Reviews routings and work instructions for assigned product Designs prior to data collection.
  • Actively participates in periodic continuous improvement meetings with other engineers and manufacturing management.
  • Performs additional duties and works on various engineering projects as assigned by Team Mentor or Leader.

WHAT IS REQUIRED:
  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Engineering or related field with an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 grade point scale.
  • Must have a valid State Driver's License and be able to meet James Avery's driving requirements.
  • Intermediate CAD experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously and manage frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule when business need requires.
  • Ability to travel to other work locations as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Advanced CAD experience.
  • CAD experience with Fusion 360 or SolidWorks.
  • Experience with mesh bodies and surfacing.
  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to interpret technical drawings, use precision tools and diagnose mechanical issues.
