Title: Histology Technician - Surgical Pathology

Location: New York City

State: New York

Duration: 27 Weeks (Temp to Permanent)

Schedule: Day Shift | 5x8-Hour Shifts
Shift Timing: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Weekly Hours: 40 Hours

Job Summary:

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Histology Technician to support Surgical Pathology laboratory operations within a high-volume pathology environment. The Histology Technician will perform specimen preparation, tissue processing, staining, slide preparation, and laboratory support services while maintaining high-quality laboratory standards and supporting diagnostic pathology services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process tissue specimens for histological examination

  • Perform embedding, microtomy, staining, and slide preparation procedures

  • Maintain specimen integrity and accurate labeling throughout processing

  • Operate and maintain histology laboratory equipment

  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, infection control, and quality standards

  • Document laboratory activities accurately and maintain patient confidentiality

  • Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to support diagnostic services

  • Monitor inventory and laboratory supplies as needed

  • Follow all regulatory and facility laboratory protocols

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong histology laboratory technical skills required

  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned workload efficiently

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills required

  • Demonstrated ability to follow through on assignments and maintain accuracy

  • Computer literacy preferred

Education Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in Science and completion of an approved Histology accredited program required
    OR

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent laboratory experience required

Certifications & Licensure:

  • NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License required
    OR

  • Certified Histology Technician certification required
    OR

  • Clinical Lab Technician certification from NYS Education Department required
