Baptist Health is looking to add an experienced Histotechnologist to join our team working in the Histology Lab atBaptist Medical Center Jacksonville. This is a full-time evening shift working 11:00am to 7:30pm.

This candidate will play a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by turning tissue samples into microscope slides based on the Pathologist's needs and orders. This Histotechnologist needs to have strong fine motor skilsl and be incredibly detail-orientated. This candidate must have comprehensive knowledge within a Histology lab and at least 1-2 years of experience working in either a research or Histology lab. Medical Technology experience is also required. A Histotechnologist at Baptist prepares tissue samples for microscopy examination by pathologists. Other duties include: specimen collection, tissue processing, staining, microscopy, quality control, and data management.

As a Histotechnologist, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing all technical aspects of Histology, including embedding, microtomy, routine and special stains.
  • Maintenance of all equipment - tissue processors, microtomes, cryostats, automated stainers and cover slippers.
  • Filing of slides and blocks.
  • Knowledge of LIS functions for accessioning and reporting.
  • Handling all specimens knowledgeably by consulting with the Pathologist.

License note:This candidate must be licensed or be able to obtain a license as a Histotechnologist in the State of Florida before hire.
