Job description

Position Summary:

Keeps assigned area clean by following procedures necessary to maintain a sanitary and aseptic environment for the residents and staff.

Essential Functions:

1. Carefully follow the cleaning schedule for each area assigned and complete assignments in a timely manner.

2. Follow all cleaning procedures as directed and trained.

3. Maintain neat and clean work cart and other equipment.

4. Mixes chemicals safely and properly, and understands Manufacturer's Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

5. Sanitizes beds upon discharge, or as required, including wheels, side rails and mattresses.

6. Dusts horizontal surfaces of vacated areas.

7. Empties waste receptacles.

8. Cleans furniture, telephone, etc.

9. Cleans restrooms according to procedures.

10. Cleans walls, window sills and windows as needed or as scheduled.

11. Dry mops and wet mops tile floor areas as assigned.

12. Vacuums carpeted areas.

13. Assists in clean up of emergency spills observed or upon request.

14. Assist residents with feeding of meals if necessary, if trained.

15. Cross-trained and assists in other areas of the department as assigned.

16. Record refrigerator temps in resident rooms and clean.

17. Remove privacy curtains and have laundry clean.

18. Wash wheelchairs.

19. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Responsibilities:

1. Performs all duties in a professional manner.

2. Regular communication with team leader and environmental services director.

3. Performs work in an efficient, accurate and timely manner.

4. As an effective member of the facility staff team, fosters cooperation and teamwork.

5. Abides by all facility rules and regulations.

6. Is respectful of the rights of all residents and provide services which will keep residents free from mistreatment.

7. Notifies supervisor of questionable resident care or mistreatment.

8. Keeps resident, facility, professional and personal matters confidential (includes own salary).

9. Is able to work outside of normal working hours as necessary.

10. Maintains a neat appearance and pleasant personality and demeanor.

11. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and management.
