Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for promoting a safe culture and awareness within their area of responsibility.
- Directly supervise hourly Team Members to achieve expected levels of safety, quality, and productivity.
- Responsible for all initial training of new hires and continuous training of the safety and quality management systems.
- Keen understanding of scheduling requirements in a continuous flow operation.
- Responsible for line and equipment set-up for current and next run products.
- Incorporate, identify, and act on process improvements.
- Conducts process quality audits and develops a sustainment plan when audits reveal points outside of specification.
- Reviews samples and product steps continually for approval and product/process improvement.
- Coordinates operator-based maintenance needs for area, as well as initiating work orders for PM and project needs.
- Resolves technical problems with regards to shade variations, glaze defects, application problems and other problems as needed.
- Understands and maintains standards and assists operations with process improvements with success measured by process reliability.
- Actively participate in the selection process of hiring new talent into the organization and performing subsequent evaluations.
- Establishes and maintains controls to keep costs at a minimum consistent with efficient operations.
- Able to work well with all departments in the value stream, as you will have daily interaction with all ‘suppliers and customers’ within the facility.
- Ensures employees complete required training, including safety, ergonomics, and all other required training.
- Foster and maintain good employee relations through all the appropriate methods of communication and positive employee relations practices.
- Lead injury/illness investigations and ensure accurate root cause is identified and addressed.
- Other duties as required by the Manager.
- Qualifications: 3 - 5 years of supervisory experience, experience in a manufacturing environment a plus.
- High School or bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent experience in the ceramic industry, preferred.
- Knowledge of ceramic manufacturing and quality standards preferred.
- Bi-Lingual speaking would be a plus but not necessary.
