Job description

Your Mission

Join ClearPoint as a Secure Building Engineer, where you will lead and execute the operational, maintenance, and improvement efforts across a portfolio of secure facilities in Maryland. You will ensure our facilities are maintained at the highest standard of quality, safety, security, and service - delivering well-functioning environments for customers and team members.

This position involves hands-on maintenance and repair across general building systems and maintenance; leading electrical infrastructure projects and outages; overseeing contractors; and providing senior technical guidance to other team members. You'll bring a proactive, solutions-driven approach to both daily operations and long-term facility resiliency.
You Will Excel in This Role If You Are:
  • A hands-on engineer who is equally comfortable performing general building maintenance and leading complex electrical work
  • A licensed Master Electrician with broad working knowledge across building infrastructure systems
  • Experienced with mission-critical systems: switchgear, generators, UPS, and automatic transfer switches
  • Confident diagnosing and resolving complex failures, electrical or otherwise, under pressure
  • Organized and accountable, with strong ownership over reliability, code compliance, and building condition
  • Comfortable mentoring less experienced engineers and technicians
  • Flexible and dependable when responding to after-hours or emergency issues, electrical or general
  • Committed to excellence, safety, and upholding ClearPoint's values in every task
A Day in the Life:
  • Oversee and perform preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and operational inspections across all building systems and grounds
  • Serve as the senior technical authority for electrical systems, including switchgear, distribution, feeders, transfer switches, generators, and UPS systems
  • Maintain systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, fire alarms, mechanical controls, and security infrastructure
  • Perform and document daily, monthly, and annual inspections, ensuring any issues are addressed quickly and effectively
  • Schedule and coordinate third-party vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or inspections
  • Respond to service requests related to mechanical, environmental, safety, plumbing, or general maintenance issues
  • Maintain accurate logs, inspection records, and reports
  • Ensure that non-functioning items are properly identified, reported, repaired, or removed
  • Receive and inspect deliveries as needed, coordinating storage or distribution
  • Lead preventive and corrective electrical maintenance programs to ensure reliability and minimize downtime
  • Diagnose and resolve complex equipment failures, electrical or general building systems, acting as first responder for emergencies and outages
  • Lead or assist in facility improvement projects and capital upgrades, including budgeting and contractor oversight
  • Oversee and review the work of contractors and vendors across all trades; support permitting and ensure code compliance
  • Operate within facility ticketing systems to complete and track work orders
  • Provide guidance to junior maintenance staff or temporary contractors when necessary
  • Perform all duties in alignment with OSHA safety protocols and company procedures
What we are expecting from you:
  • Active Maryland Master Electrician License
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in building maintenance/engineering, with strong electrical depth, ideally in commercial or mission-critical facilities
  • Working knowledge of all major building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical)
  • Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), building codes, and OSHA standards
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to travel between portfolio properties and work in adverse weather conditions
Nice to have:
  • State Certified Journeyman's License (HVAC, Plumbing, or Carpentry)
  • Master Electrician license in Virginia, Washington D.C., and/or Delaware
  • Vocational training or coursework in relevant technical areas (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.)
  • Proficiency in using Yardi Facility Manager, Construction Manager, or other automated work order systems
  • Ability to read technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and architectural/engineering plans (AutoCAD experience a plus)
  • Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and energy-management systems
  • Experience leading or coordinating property maintenance projects
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
  • Availability to serve in an on-call rotation for 24-hour emergency maintenance response
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 70 lbs occasionally and perform physical tasks (stooping, kneeling, crawling, ladder use)
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision and the ability to adjust focus
