Job description

Beloit Health System at Beloit Memorial Hospital is seeking compassionate, motivated, and patient-focused Student Nurses to join our healthcare team. This position provides nursing students with valuable hands-on clinical experience while supporting licensed nursing staff in delivering high-quality patient care.

  • Location: Beloit Memorial Hospital - Beloit, WI
  • Shift: Varied - Per Diem
  • Schedule: 7a-7p/7p-7a, may vary based on availability

Student Nurses work under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and perform assigned patient care activities consistent with their educational preparation and hospital policies. The Student Nurse in the Family Care Center will provide comprehensive nursing care across Labor & Delivery, Level II Nursery, Postpartum, and Pediatric services.

The Student Nurse in the Family Care Center will:

  • Provide skilled, compassionate nursing care for patients across Labor & Delivery, Level II Nursery, Postpartum, and Pediatric services.
  • Assesses and identifies the basic physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of patients and their families, reporting concerns to the appropriate clinical staff.
  • Assists licensed nursing personnel in the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care and performs assigned patient care activities in accordance with BHS policies, procedures, and scope of practice.
  • Observes patient status and promptly communicates changes in condition to the supervising Registered Nurse.
  • Accurately completes and maintains patient care documentation in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Reinforces patient and family education provided by the healthcare team and supports patient engagement in the plan of care.
  • Delivers compassionate, respectful, and patient-centered care while promoting dignity and comfort.
  • Maintains compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention and control standards, patient safety practices, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborates effectively with Registered Nurses and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support patient care and unit operations.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled and participating in a NN accredited school of nursing in their senior year (if in a conventional nursing degree). If it is a direct degree (ex. BS to BSN or BS to MSN), must be in final year, no more than 6 months prior to graduation. Must pass NCLEX or receive temporary nursing license within 6 months of graduating.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Requires the ability to work independently and to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Requires the ability to perform simple math addition and subtraction as well as read and understand written material.
  • CPR/BLS certified or certification eligible within three months of hire.
