Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

Our Opportunity Summary:

Micron is seeking an experienced Permitting Manager to lead permitting strategy and implementation for a large-scale semiconductor manufacturing facility project in New York. This role will support bold building and construction schedules by driving permitting activities throughout engineering, construction, Authorities Having Jurisdiction, third-party reviewers, and external build partners.

The Permitting Manager will develop and manage scalable permitting processes. They will remove roadblocks, support compliance with applicable codes and laws, and coordinate permitting activities with project achievements and construction sequencing. This role requires a strong understanding of complex industrial construction environments, proactive collaborator engagement, and the ability to drive execution in a fast-paced mega-project setting.

(Disclaimer) While you may not exhibit all of the characteristics/skills listed below today, we are highly interested in a team member who is anxious to grow in both technical breadth and depth. If you are open to learning from and being a valued member of a team of seasoned engineers, we are eager to help build on your existing foundation and expand your individual and collaborative skills in this exciting and unique opportunity.

What's Encouraged Daily:

  • Lead overall permitting strategy, planning, and execution for a large-scale semiconductor fab construction project.

  • Serve as the primary permitting interface across Engineering, Construction, regulatory bodies, external reviewers, contractors, and external build partners.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive permitting roadmap aligned to project achievements, construction sequencing, procurement needs, and schedule requirements.

  • Manage permitting workflows for building permits, site development permits, MEP permits or equivalent experience, utility permits, fire/life safety approvals, environmental and agency approvals, trade permits, early works packages, and temporary construction permits.

  • Identify permitting risks early, implement mitigation plans, and drive expedited review strategies such as phased permits, early start packages, and parallel review approaches.

  • Coordinate permit-ready work across CSA Engineering, Process Engineering, Construction, Environmental, Utilities, and external firms that build.

  • Track permit status, approval timelines, review comments, inspection readiness, and action items while providing clear reporting on permitting health, risks, and schedule impacts.

  • Help establish scalable permitting governance and evaluate opportunities to improve current or future permitting workflows, including experience and/or interest in developing Agentic AI workflows into current or future processes.

How to Qualify:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Planning, or a related field.

  • demonstrated ability managing permitting activities for large industrial, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, important, or mega construction projects.

  • Extensive knowledge of building codes, permitting processes, inspections, agency coordination, and requirements set by regulatory bodies.

  • Experience managing complex, multi-package permitting strategies under aggressive project schedules.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction drawings and communicate effectively across engineering firms, contractors, government agencies, and internal collaborators.

What Sets you Apart:

  • Experience supporting semiconductor fab, sophisticated manufacturing, or other intricate industrial building projects

  • Experience working with New York State permitting agencies, local municipalities, or regional regulatory authorities.

  • Familiarity with phased construction permitting, fast-track delivery models, EPCM, or design-build project environments.

  • Understanding of CSA systems, construction sequencing, and integration of permitting activities into master project schedules.

  • Experience using digital project management, permitting tracking, workflow automation, or AI-enabled tools to improve visibility, governance, and execution.
