Job description

  • JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
    • Responsible for development efforts in annual giving, corporate sponsorships, and entry level major gifts. Partners with Foundation director at assigned site(s) and with Samaritan Foundations central office to cultivate, solicit and steward gifts for the assigned foundation(s) and associated hospitals and clinics. Cultivates, solicits and stewards gifts in support of system-wide initiatives and facilities. Participates in foundation activities and special events.
  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
    • Team members of the Samaritan Health Services Foundations actively engage philanthropic partners in the mission of SHS, its five hospitals, and its many healthcare services. This team works with individuals, businesses, and foundations to encourage investment in the SHS vision of providing the highest standard of healthcare to enhance the patient experience and improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve. As active members in the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, team members are dedicated to developing philanthropic relationships that are guided by the Donor Bill of Rights and managed with integrity and respect.
  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
    • High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree and/or CFRE preferred.
    • Five (5) years professional experience in development, fundraising or a related area required.
    • Experience or training in Microsoft Office applications required.
    • Experience or training with donor databases such as Raisers Edge preferred.
    • Experience in volunteer engagement and management preferred.
  • KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
    • Ability to manage a prospective donor relationship through the Moves Management system of donor development, including timely and clear tracking of moves in the donor database.
    • Ability to communicate to people internal and external to the organization and to represent the organization to donors, prospects and system partners.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and operate under compliant practices as set out by HIPPA, the AFP Code of Ethical Principles and Standards, and the Donor Bill of Rights. Use knowledge and judgment skills to determine whether events or processes comply and to assess the safety of protected information.
    • Ability to work with a diverse population with a non-judgmental attitude toward persons of a differing race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age or other self-identifier.
    • Ability to work, function and communicate on a multi-disciplinary team. Possess the knowledge and skills to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time. Ability to see one's work in the context of the team.
    • Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members and tactfully discuss issues. Ability to perform group presentations and listen to and understand complex information and ideas.
