Responsibilities
Compass Intervention Center has been providing psychiatric services in Memphis, Tennessee for 29-years. Compass Intervention Center is a 108-bed, free-standing facility that treats children and teens, ages 12 to 17 for Residential and Acute patients; ages 10 to 17 for our Outpatient Programs struggling with a psychiatric, substance abuse or dual diagnosis disorder. It is the only TRICARE®-certified residential treatment facility in Memphis, Tennessee.
We are dedicated to providing age-specific programs to address the needs of children, preteens and teens with a wide variety of psychiatric illnesses, behavioral problems and substance abuse issues.
Our treatment programs focus on youth and families struggling with emotional, behavioral, and chemical dependency issues. We provide specialized, individual treatment to help every patient achieve a positive outcome and improve relationships.

The Temporary Registered Nurse (Day/Evening Shifts) prescribes, coordinates and delegates nursing care utilizing the nursing process that is integrated into the multidisciplinary treatment team plan of care. The Registered nurse is accountable for assigned nursing care activities on a shift basis and is responsible for promoting and enhancing professional nursing practice on the unit.
Key Responsibilities include:
  • The Temporary Registered Nurse (Day/Evening Shifts) provides professional nursing care on a designated unit in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Compass Intervention Center and the ANA Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care. The Registered Nurse creates a safe environment for clients, provides direct supervision of clients, empowers clients, and teaches new tools for coping to clients .
Qualifications
Position Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred.
  • One-year prior psychiatric experience in mental health nursing.
  • Licensure and registration by the Tennessee Board of Nurse Examiners or Compact as a registered nurse.
  • Prefer knowledge of effective teaching skills and educational strategies with a special education population, individual and group management skills, therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth and development; limit setting and crisis and behavior management.
