  • Deliver non-credit OSHA 10-Hour and/or 30-Hour Outreach Training classes in General Industry and/or Construction, as assigned, in accordance with OSHA Outreach Training Program requirements.
  • Teach and train classes as assigned at campus locations or at employer sites, as contracted, within programming designed to meet specific company learning objectives.
  • Teaching and training will utilize contemporary adult learning techniques as demonstrated in the corporate training arena.

  • Initiate and follow through on evaluation processes that determine the viability and effectiveness of each training program delivered.
  • Assist in the identification of facility and equipment needs for classroom and hands-on training components, whether on campus or at employer sites.
  • Participate in training and professional development as needed, including maintaining Outreach Trainer authorization currency.

The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current OSHA Outreach Trainer authorization in General Industry and/or Construction (per applicable curriculum track), issued through the OSHA Training Institute (OTI) or an OTI Education Center. Candidates holding authorization in only one track are welcome to apply and will be assigned accordingly.
  • Strong working knowledge of current OSHA standards and safety practices appropriate to the area of instruction.
  • Faculty credentials as outlined in ASOM 7.1 as applicable to the specific area of instruction.
  • Expertise in occupational safety topics assigned, with the ability to convey information effectively to adult learners.

  • Ability and willingness to travel to employer sites within the Lafayette Campus service area (Benton, Carroll, Clinton, Fountain, Montgomery, Newton, Tippecanoe, Warren, and White counties) as training contracts require.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dual authorization in both General Industry and Construction Outreach Training.
  • Prior experience delivering OSHA Outreach Training in an industry, corporate, or community college setting.
  • Additional safety-related certifications (e.g., First Aid/CPR instructor, industry-specific safety credentials).
  • Experience working with manufacturing, construction, or industrial employer partners.
  • Reliable transportation for travel between campus and employer sites across the service area.

Other Requirements:
Selected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome. Copies of transcripts and current OSHA Outreach Trainer authorization (General Industry and/or Construction) may be required at time of interview.
