Title:Workforce Development Instructor: Temporary Part-Time-Commercial Plumbing
Department: Workforce & Community Development
Campus: Varies

Type of Appointment: Temporary Part-Time
Pay Rate: Varies by course, experience, and instructional area.
Work Hours: Plumbing courses will be offered in the evening in an industry setting.
Position Summary: Pellissippi State Community College is seeking qualified contract instructor (s) to teach commercial/industrial plumbing training classes for its Workforce and Community Development Department. We are specifically seeking an instructor for evening classes to be taught on an ongoing basis in partnership with a local industry.
Instructors work on a part-time, temporary contract to provide educational instruction for a specific class or workforce training. Instructors are expected to be subject matter experts on their topic, will be responsible for delivery of instruction, and may be responsible for developing instructional materials.
Current and retired industry leaders and past military personnel with technical training and the ability to teach are strongly encouraged to apply
Special Instructions to Applicants: Unofficial transcripts and/or records of qualifications are acceptable for the application process. Official transcripts and/or records of qualifications may be required upon hire. Applicants may be subject to a background check.
Duties and Responsibilities:
75% Delivery of educational instruction
25% Curriculum development (Utilize Plumbing Curriculum)

Required Qualifications:
  • Valid Limited Licensed Plumber (LLP) or current Tennessee-issued journeyman/master plumber license.
  • Knowledge of instructional safety practices in a lab or shop environment.
  • Minimum three (3) years of full-time, verifiable plumbing experience.
  • Postsecondary certificate/diploma in plumbing or related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with NCCER curriculum and/or Tennessee Residential/Commercial Plumbing Code.

Years of Experience: 3 years
Skills and Abilities: Minimum three years of experience as a plumber in a commercial or industrial setting is required.
