Eater is looking for a temporary designer to join our marketing team and help bring one of the world's most trusted food and dining brands to life across every touchpoint. This role will focus largely on Eater's mobile app, with design work touching paid social and performance campaigns, organic content and app store assets; in addition to supporting creative pitches and content execution for Eater's advertising clients and Eater's tentpole programs and advertising campaigns.
WHO WE ARE
Eater, the national food publication with outlets across the country, is at the forefront of reporting on the restaurant industry, shaping food culture with its award-winning journalism and programming, and telling people where to eat with its beloved maps and guides.
Eater is part of Vox Media, the leading modern media company. We guide our audience from discovery to obsession. We inspire essential conversations about what's now, what's next, and what's possible.
As a community of journalists and storytellers, business professionals, creators and technologists, we believe it is a moral and business imperative to amplify voices: to cultivate diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout our organization and media. This applies to our candidates, our teams, our storytelling, our creative work, and our platforms, products, and partnerships.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Design marketing assets across paid and organic channels including social, display, email, and app store listings, with a particular focus on Eater app growth and retention.
  • Create assets for advertising campaign pitches, including treatment decks, social images, and site mockups.
  • Design custom layouts and landing pages using Ceros.
  • Translate performance data, audience insights, and marketing briefs into strong, platform-native creative concepts.
  • Adapt work fluidly for multiple formats and aspect ratios - Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, App Store, and beyond.
  • Collaborate with creative, marketing, and editorial stakeholders to ensure visual output is on-brand and strategically aligned.
  • Iterate quickly on creative based on testing results and campaign feedback.
  • Help maintain and evolve Eater's visual identity across marketing contexts, ensuring consistency without sacrificing freshness.

WHO YOU ARE
  • 3-5years of graphic design experience, ideally at a media company, consumer app, or agency working with lifestyle or consumer brands.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating work across digital platforms - social, paid media, email, or app marketing - with clear evidence of creative range and visual taste.
  • Exceptional typography instincts and a practiced eye for composition, hierarchy, and editorial photography.
  • A baseline familiarity with performance marketing principles - you understand why creative gets tested and can design with that in mind.
  • Genuine interest in food, dining, travel, or lifestyle media.
  • Comfort working independently in a fast-moving environment and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with design systems and brand guidelines.
  • Basic motion design is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience working alongside product teams.
  • Familiarity with creative testing frameworks or A/B testing workflows.

If you think you have what it takes, but don't meet every single point in our job posting, please apply with a cover letter to let us know how you believe you can bring your unique skills to the Vox Media team or get in touch! We would love to have a chat and see if you could be a great addition to our team.
