What is a temp leasing job?

Temp leasing jobs are temporary positions in the property management industry where individuals work as leasing agents or consultants on a short-term basis. These roles typically involve assisting with showing rental properties, processing applications, and helping potential tenants. Temp leasing professionals are often hired to fill in for regular staff during busy periods or when there's a staffing shortage. This type of position offers flexibility and can be a stepping stone to full-time employment in property management.

What are some common challenges faced by temp leasing agents, and how can they be managed effectively?

Temp leasing agents often face challenges such as quickly adapting to new property management systems, learning property details on short notice, and establishing rapport with both prospective tenants and existing staff. Success in this role typically relies on strong communication skills, adaptability, and a proactive approach to learning about each property's unique features and policies. Building quick connections with team members and utilizing checklists can help temp leasing agents stay organized and deliver excellent service during their assignments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a temp leasing agent, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Temp Leasing Agent, you need a solid understanding of property leasing processes, strong sales abilities, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with property management software like Yardi, MRI, or AppFolio is commonly required, along with basic office software skills. Job description

Temporary Leasing Professional — RISE Sereno
$21–$22/hour Temporary Assignment (Up to 6 Months) | Potential for Permanent Hire
Some leasing jobs are glorified tour guides.
This isn’t one of them.
At RISE Sereno, we need someone who understands that leasing is sales, customer experience, conflict resolution, marketing, and reputation management all rolled into one. You’re not here to unlock doors and hand out brochures. You’re here to create urgency, build trust fast, and turn prospects into residents who actually want to stay.
The person who succeeds here is sharp, organized, competitive, and emotionally intelligent. You can read people. You know when to push and when to listen. You don’t fold when the office gets slammed, the phones won’t stop ringing, and three residents walk in needing something immediately.
You handle it.
Because high-performing communities are built by people who take ownership.
What You’ll Actually Be Doing
  • Leasing apartments and driving occupancy
  • Following up relentlessly with prospects
  • Delivering tours that feel personal, not scripted
  • Managing resident relationships from move-in to renewal
  • Handling resident concerns with professionalism and urgency
  • Supporting marketing and outreach efforts
  • Keeping the office organized and operating at a high level
  • Working closely with maintenance and management to protect the resident experience
What We’re Looking For
  • Leasing, hospitality, retail sales, or customer service experience
  • Strong communication skills and confidence with people
  • Someone competitive enough to chase goals but mature enough to work as a team
  • Organized, dependable, and able to multitask under pressure
  • Professional presence and strong follow-through
  • Someone who thinks like an owner, not just an hourly employee
Compensation amp; Perks
  • $21–$22/hour based on experience
  • Leasing commissions and bonus opportunities
  • Team environment with high standards and strong support
  • Opportunity to help shape the culture of the community
If you want a slow office where nobody cares about performance, this job will frustrate you.
If you like fast-paced environments, taking ownership, and winning as a team, you’ll probably fit right in.
