Job description

Description The Cary Tennis Park is seeking energetic and customer service-oriented individuals to serve as Center Aide IVs. If you enjoy engaging with citizens and have strong organizational and administrative skills, consider joining our team to provide exemplary customer service to citizens visiting or contacting our facility. As a Center Aide, you will be the first point of contact with our citizens, providing a welcoming and helpful atmosphere for visitors.

Responsibilities include reserving tennis courts, entering program registration data, processing customer inquiries, handling general office duties, providing program information, and responding to the various customer needs of our facility. This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, working up to 20 hours per week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year. Must be available to work evenings and weekends as this position will primarily work Saturdays, Sundays, and the occasional weekday nights.

Typical Tasks Serves as receptionist, providing exceptional customer service to citizens via in-person, telephone or email Educates citizens on Cary Tennis Park offerings Reserves tennis courts for public and teaching staff Oversees court bookings for certain user groups (annual passholders, seniors, meet-up groups, joint use high school PE classes) Registers and maintains citizens accounts for Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources programs Sells items through Point of Service and performs basic accounting for money received through the cash register Opens and/or closes and secures the facility when assigned Notifies patrons of class/program cancelations, changes, or updates Proactively identifies facility needs and suggests solutions Communicates with patrons to address concerns Provides Town information and materials to citizens or redirects the citizen to the appropriate staff Assists in the orientation and training of new temporary staff Provides support during events including assisting with setup and breakdown of events Assists patrons with RecTrac program registration system and Plan2Play court reservation system Maintains office files Operates standard office equipment Follows up with supervisor and/or program assistant as needed Enforces Cary policies and procedures Manages special projects such as assisting with periodic inventory and restocking of supplies and resale items Performs other job-related tasks as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities General knowledge of computers and related software General knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and filing systems maintenance General knowledge of cash collection procedures Ability to remain organized, multitask, and meet deadlines Ability to communicate with coworkers and the public tactfully and constructively Ability to work independently Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions Ability to acquire knowledge of policies, procedures and services of the center, division and department Minimum and Preferred Qualifications Education and Experience Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma/GED. Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following: Some in-person customer service experience.

Knowledge of computers and some Microsoft Office 365 proficiency Physical Requirements Work in this class requires an employee to be able to hear and talk in order to communicate with the public. An employee must be able to climb, walk unassisted and move about freely in order to interact with patrons. Must be able to lift moderately heavy items (up to 40 lbs.), such as chairs, 6-foot folding tables, sports equipment and rolling bleachers

Visual acuity is needed to read typewritten and handwritten materials and to view a computer terminal. Part of the work in this class is clerical in nature and may require sitting and use of a computer for extended periods of time. Conditions of Employment Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification, and credit history review) prior to employment.
