Job description

Job Title: Blow Molding Machine Operator / TechnicianJob Description

This role focuses on operating, setting up, and supporting blow molding production equipment in a plastic molding manufacturing facility. You will perform mechanical changeovers, mold changes, minor repairs, and troubleshooting to keep equipment running efficiently while maintaining safety and quality standards. The position offers hands-on experience with both blow molding and injection molding processes and involves working with older and specialized molding equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and support blow molding production equipment to meet production requirements.
  • Perform machine setups and startups to prepare equipment for production runs.
  • Complete mechanical changeovers, including mold changes and adjustments, to support different products and production schedules.
  • Work with production molds, including handling, installing, and removing molds safely and efficiently.
  • Perform mold changes and adjustments to ensure proper fit, function, and product quality.
  • Conduct minor machine repairs and troubleshooting to maintain production uptime.
  • Diagnose equipment issues using basic pneumatic and hydraulic knowledge.
  • Work with color changes and material transitions, ensuring proper purging and setup to maintain product quality.
  • Adjust machine settings to maintain quality standards and consistent product output.
  • Utilize hand tools and basic maintenance tools for maintenance, repairs, and changeover activities.
  • Support manufacturing activities on older equipment and machinery, ensuring reliable operation.
  • Assist with maintaining equipment uptime and production efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
  • Follow safety and quality standards within the manufacturing environment at all times.
  • Support production operations on blow molding machines, including Bekum equipment and other molding machines.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to address mechanical and process issues promptly.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks as assigned to reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Read and interpret basic mechanical or production documentation, such as simple blueprints or setup instructions, as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient operations.
Essential Skills
  • Intermediate experience in blow molding and/or injection molding.
  • Hands-on experience operating blow molding production equipment.
  • Experience performing machine setups and changeovers in a manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting skills for production machinery.
  • Familiarity with mold handling and mold changes in plastic molding operations.
  • Basic pneumatic knowledge for diagnosing and resolving equipment issues.
  • Basic hydraulic knowledge for troubleshooting machine functions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Freehold, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
