Description
Blow the whistle, make the call, and be part of the action-the City of Flagstaff is hiring six part-time Athletics Officials!
If you're passionate about sports and have a solid understanding of basketball, volleyball, and/or softball rules, this is a great opportunity to get involved in a new way. In this role, you'll officiate a variety of adult leagues, helping ensure games are fair, safe, and run smoothly.
We're looking for individuals who can confidently referee, understand the responsibilities of being an official, and bring energy and professionalism to every game. While prior officiating experience is a plus, we're happy to train those who have a strong knowledge of the rules.
If you're ready to stay connected to the sports you love while earning extra income, we'd love to have you on the team.
Please note: this is a part-time and temporary role with no benefits.
Examples of the Work Performed
  • Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Officiates games following established league regulations.
  • Keeps accurate score of games.
  • Participates in seasonal clinics.
  • Arrives at scheduled facility on time, in proper uniform.
  • Assists with facility preparation and clean up.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
  • General knowledge of the rules of basketball, volleyball, and/or softball, how to referee a game, and the responsibilities associated with the game as an official.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
  • 1-2 years' experience officiating basketball, volleyball, or softball games.
  • Arizona Interscholastic Association certificate.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings as assigned.
  • Required to obtain proper equipment and uniforms as needed.
  • Ability to pass a written and/or practical exam on the rules of basketball and/or volleyball.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity.
