****Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Reports to the Director of Digital Media and the Producer/Director of UH Athletics for streaming operations.
  2. Play by play announcers/Color commentators are responsible for gameday announcing for the University of Hawai?i at Manoa Athletics streaming broadcasts.
  3. Research home and visiting team personnel for in-game mention of storylines, facts, statistics, etc. that enhance the broadcast.
  4. Delivers in-game announcements, player introductions, sponsored lines, etc. as assigned by the streaming producer/director.
  5. Responsible for maintaining and operating announcing equipment and provided resources for broadcast.
  6. Present an appropriate and professional appearance for on-camera broadcasts.
  7. Responsible for providing personal transportation to off-campus athletic events as needed.
  8. As directed by the broadcast streaming producer/director, provides announcements to streaming audience during the game to ensure a positive and competitive atmosphere for home athletic contests.
  9. Adapts quickly to dynamic game scenarios and processes information efficiently in time-sensitive environments.
  10. Maintains current knowledge and understanding of the rules and statistics of assigned sport.
  11. Demonstrates a positive and professional working attitude and maintain a collaborative working relationship with the broadcast/streaming team, coaching staff, support staff, administrators in the UH Athletics Department and other individuals associated with the Athletics Department.
  12. Knows, recognizes, and complies with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the University of Hawai?i and its employees, and the rules of the NCAA and affiliated conferences as now constituted or as may be amended in the future. Immediately advise the Director of Athletics or Designee if you have reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees or students, have occurred or will occur.
  13. Maintains confidentiality to include but not limited to information, files and records that the incumbent may obtain or possess, in accordance with federal and state laws and University of Hawai?i policies.
  14. Other duties as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Sports announcing experience and/or equivalent on-air experience
  3. Strong and pleasant voice with attention to appropriate vocabulary and proper pronunciation.
  4. Ability to be expressive, clear, and have controlled vocal skills.
  5. Ability to have a varied vocal delivery based on game situations.
  6. Strong attention to detail.
  7. Advanced knowledge of sports
  8. Knowledge and understanding of the rules, statistics, and personnel of designed sport.
  9. Ability to think and work in time-sensitive situations.
  10. Must be able to work weekdays, weekends, holidays and nights when needed as many events are scheduled on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
  11. Must be able to work in a fast paced, time sensitive, and outdoor environment.
