What is a temp coding job?

A temp coding job is a temporary position where a programmer or developer is hired for a short-term project or to fill in for staff shortages. These roles usually involve writing, testing, and debugging code for specific tasks or projects, and may last from a few weeks to several months. Temp coding jobs can be found in various industries, including technology, finance, and healthcare, and often provide flexibility and opportunities to gain diverse experience. Employers use temp coders to meet project deadlines or manage fluctuating workloads without committing to permanent hires.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Temp Coding professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Temp Coding professional, you need strong proficiency in programming languages (such as Python, Java, or JavaScript), problem-solving skills, and a relevant degree or coding bootcamp certification. Familiarity with code versioning tools like Git, issue tracking systems, and common development frameworks is typically required. Adaptability, effective communication, and time management help temp coders excel in fast-paced, changing environments. These skills ensure high-quality code delivery, seamless team integration, and the ability to quickly contribute to diverse projects.

Job description

OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY
Fox Corporation
Under the FOX banner, we produce and distribute content through some of the world's leading and most valued brands, including: FOX News Media, FOX Sports, FOX Entertainment, FOX Television Stations and Tubi Media Group. We empower a diverse range of creators to imagine and develop culturally significant content, while building an organization that thrives on creative ideas, operational expertise and strategic thinking.
JOB DESCRIPTION
FOX is seeking a Temp - Senior Orchestration Engineer to help transform how work gets done across the enterprise by designing and deploying automation and workflow orchestration solutions. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and business operations, focused on building the "glue" across systems to streamline, automate, and reimagine internal processes.
In this role, you will have a direct and visible impact on the business - solving real problems that teams face every day. You will take processes that currently take weeks, require multiple handoffs, or involve repetitive manual effort, and transform them into streamlined, automated workflows that save significant time and unlock productivity across the organization. The impact is immediate, tangible, and highly visible.
You will play a key role in evolving FOX's operational model away from ticket-driven workflows toward a modern, automation-first approach. By leveraging orchestration platforms and API-driven integrations, you will enable faster, more dynamic, and self-service ways of working across the organization.
This is a fast-paced, high-impact role where you will rapidly design and deliver solutions that make work easier, faster, and more efficient-creating meaningful change in how the business operates every day.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, build, and deploy end-to-end workflow automations across enterprise systems using modern SaaS orchestration platforms
  • Integrate a wide range of SaaS platforms (e.g., collaboration tools, HR systems, finance systems, project management tools, and AI services) via APIs
  • Replace manual, ticket-based, and multi-step processes with automated, event-driven workflows
  • Act as a forward-deployed engineer working directly with business stakeholders to identify, design, and implement automation solutions in real time
  • Analyze existing operational processes and identify opportunities to simplify, optimize, or fully automate repetitive workflows
  • Develop API-based integrations and custom logic using Python, JavaScript, or Node.js where needed
  • Leverage RPA solutions for browser-based automation when APIs are unavailable or limited
  • Rapidly prototype and iterate on solutions, dramatically reducing delivery timelines compared to traditional service delivery models
  • Establish and enforce governance, versioning, and release management practices for orchestrated workflows
  • Create reusable automation patterns, templates, and frameworks to scale impact across teams
  • Train and enable business users ("power users") to build and manage their own automations responsibly
  • Partner with security, IT, and enterprise architecture teams to ensure compliance and scalability

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Strong experience building integrations and automations across SaaS platforms using APIs
  • Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or Node.js, with strong experience working with JSON and API payloads
  • Deep understanding of REST APIs, authentication methods (OAuth, API keys), and system integration patterns
  • Experience with workflow orchestration or automation platforms (no-code, low-code, or programmatic)
  • Strong business analysis and requirements gathering skills, with the ability to translate ambiguous needs into technical solutions
  • Experience modernizing or transforming operational workflows and service delivery models
  • Experience working directly with stakeholders and delivering solutions in fast-paced, iterative environments
  • Familiarity with RPA tools and browser-based automation techniques
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a focus on speed and impact
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on simplification, efficiency, and automation-first thinking
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Regular, on-site attendance at the workplace a minimum of 3 days per week is an essential function of the position. Selected candidate must be able to reliably meet this requirement.

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
  • Experience implementing automation governance frameworks and best practices
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems such as HR, finance, or procurement platforms
  • Exposure to AI-powered workflows and integrations
  • Experience building internal enablement programs or training materials
  • Background in process improvement or operational transformation initiatives
  • Familiarity with scaling low-code/no-code platforms across large organizations
