Job Responsibilities
Teach Automotive courses to a diverse student body using effective teaching strategies; develop, revise, and maintain course materials; recommend/design new programs; maintain office hours; participate in appropriate professional development opportunities; participate in College and community activities, promote the mission of the College; develop/implement retention strategies; assist in graduate placement; attend graduation ceremony; assist with student advising and registration; serve on College committees; promote institutional goals; assist with departmental administrative responsibilities. Teaching may be on any campus, or by distance learning, and may be days, nights, weekends, or a combination.
TEACHING PERFORMANCE - The ability to present course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process.
INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT - The development, revision, and maintenance of courses and curriculum through course objectives, outlines, and appropriate materials.
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT - The effective use of required office hours, exhibition of effective classroom management and control, and timely and accurately submitted reports.
STUDENT ADVISEMENT - The participation of the faculty member, when applicable, in assisting students in personal and professional development.
COLLEGE AND/OR COMMUNITY SERVICES - The participation in College activities and the promotion of the College through public service.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - The participation of the faculty member in activities designed to develop professional skills so as to maintain and improve proficiency in his/her present position.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Associate's degree in automotive technology or associate's degree in a related industrial area with automotive specialization. Minimum 3 years of work experience as an automotive Technician.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of work experience as an automotive Technician. ASE Master automobile (A1-A8) and ASE L1 Certified, Ford Senior Master Certified with teaching experience.
Additional Comments
Be able to develop/revise a program through association with College faculty/staff, other colleges with similar programs, business and industry representatives is essential. Day, evening, and weekend student advisement and instruction will be required. Professional, collegial, and ethical conduct, decisions, and relationships are expected at all times.
