About the Role:
Temporary Legal Office Assistant
Location: Clayton / St. Louis, Missouri
Hours: 40 hours per week
Position Type: Temporary (with potential for extension based on performance and office needs)
About the Position
Our law firm is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Legal Office Assistant to support our practice. This is a temporary position ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Assist with file preparation and organization for cases
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Retrieve and organize medical records, billing statements, police reports, and other case-related documents
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Maintain and update physical and electronic case files in accordance with office procedures
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Assist with document management systems (e.g., CloudLex or similar platforms)
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Prepare files for settlement, litigation, and trial preparation
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Scan, upload, and properly label documents in the firmโ€™s system
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Communicate with medical providers, insurance companies, and clients for records and follow-ups
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Assist attorneys and paralegals with administrative and clerical tasks
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Track outstanding records requests and follow up as needed
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Ensure files are complete, organized, and ready for review
Additional Duties
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Answer phones and take messages in a professional manner
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Schedule appointments and assist with calendar coordination
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Perform general office tasks (copying, filing, mail handling)
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Assist with intake of new clients
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Support office staff with overflow work as needed
Qualifications
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Professional communication skills (written and verbal)
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Basic proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint) and other general computer systems
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Prior legal or experience is a plus, but not required
ยทย  ย  ย  ย  Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
