Business Unit Overview

The Real Estate Investing platform within Goldman Sachs Asset Management is overseen by a global investment committee that directs the firm's strategy in real estate and approves investments in the US, Europe and APAC. Teams invest across the full expanse of risk categories and sectors, in both equity and credit, with a focus on thematic strategies, acquisitions and development, platform creation and special situations.

Position Overview: 
Goldman Sachs Asset Management seeks a senior investing professional to source and execute new real estate investments, specifically in credit origination at loan sizes ranging from $30mm to $500mm.The opportunity is to join a high-growth real estate investing platform, leveraging the extensive resources and capital at your disposal, and building a team over time. The successful candidate will be a key production leader, driving deal flow and playing a central role in shaping the firm's real estate credit strategy and pipeline. 

This role can be based out of our Los Angeles, New York or Dallas office.

 
Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and drive the origination of real estate credit investments across diverse asset classes (including industrial, multifamily, office, retail, and hospitality) and various financing structures (e.g., bridge, construction, senior-secured, subordinate debt) with a preferred track record in the Western United States
  • Cultivate and expand a robust network of relationships with sponsors, brokers, borrowers, and other market participants to generate deal flow and enhance the firm's sourcing capabilities. 
  • Monitor real estate market dynamics, identify emerging trends, and proactively identify investment opportunities aligned with the firm's strategic goals. 
  • Lead all aspects of the investment process, including deal sourcing, comprehensive underwriting, financial modeling, structuring complex transactions, due diligence, and preparing investment committee presentations. 
  • Negotiate deal terms and manage the closing process, ensuring seamless execution of loan documents and legal processes. 
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams across acquisitions, asset management, closing, legal, and capital markets to ensure efficient transaction execution and portfolio management. 

 
Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience in real estate credit origination and real estate investing, with a strong focus on debt transactions. 
  • Proven track record of independently originating, structuring, and closing real estate debt transactions, particularly within the Western United States. 
  • Deep knowledge of real estate fundamentals, capital structures, and various property types, with expertise in deal sourcing, underwriting, due diligence, and asset management. 
  • Exceptional relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to operate independently as a market leader. 
  • Strong analytical capabilities, financial modeling proficiency, and a meticulous approach to investment vetting. 
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, results-oriented, and a demonstrated hunger to produce deals in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 
  • Ability to leverage internal resources effectively, including access to a full pool of analysts and associates, and collaborate seamlessly across global teams.

Salary Range 
The expected base salary for this Los Angeles, California or New York, New York based position is $150000-$300000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
