Television Production Assistant
Job Description
The television production assistant will work to assist the Director in all aspects of television production. Will also assist students in learning how to produce, shoot and edit video. Will handle general programming responsibilities as needed. Essential Job Functions*:
The Television Production Assistant is responsible for the following tasks:
โ€ข Assist in recording and editing content material for broadcast.
โ€ข Assist students during video production Lab hours
โ€ข Assist with pre and postproduction projects.
โ€ข Assist in maintaining and protecting and equipment.
โ€ข Manage programming/broadcasting logs when necessary.
Other Requirements:
โ€ข Willing to travel for production shoots etc. when necessary.
โ€ข Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
โ€ข Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
โ€ข Self-starter who can demonstrate creative and critical thinking abilities and problem-solving skills.
โ€ข Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
โ€ข Maintain flexible work hours, including some nights and weekends.
Non-Essential Functions /Secondary Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as necessary or requested.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises the following: student interns, volunteers, and work study students.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position:
โ€ข Candidate must have a basic understanding and willingness to learn all aspects of television production including video/digital camera usage, video editing, live streaming and audio recording.
โ€ข Must have a working knowledge of Final Cut Pro editing software, Music maker Pro Tools and Apple software. with video editing software and how to assist students in using it.
โ€ข Candidate must have experience working in pre and post television productions.
โ€ข In addition, the candidate should have a working knowledge of professional journalist ethics and standards demanded within the industry, First Amendment Rights, and legal issues.
โ€ข Candidate must demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbally and written, work with minimal supervision, and have previous experience working in an environment that requires student and public contact.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in communication, media, television production,etc. and related experiences. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in working individually and with production teams. Candidate must be able to work well with students to complete projects and meet deadlines.
