Opportunity:
RN - Tele
Job Details:
• Day shifts run from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and night shifts run from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• 50% of holidays required per contract
• Schedule is made in 6-week increments and released approximately 3 weeks prior to the start of the schedule
• Low census on-call possible for up to 36 hours per contract
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg/Tele experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Patient ratios: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:6-7 (up to 1:8 uncommon)
• Primarily geriatric patient population with diagnoses including CHF, chest pain observation, seizure/stroke observation, TIA rule out, altered mental status, COPD, and respiratory/kidney/liver/GI issues
• Required skills include NG tube placement and management, foley placement and management, chest tube management, Pleurex and other drains, wound care, central line/ports/midline blood draws, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Drip management within set parameters includes Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, and insulin
• EMR system: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Medication dispensing: Pyxis
• Various patient lifts available including ceiling lift
• May float to other Med Surg units or areas within the hospital where Med Surg patients are located, including ER hold and ICU, but will only take Med Surg patient assignments
• Required certifications: BLS and NIHSS; ACLS preferred
• Scrub color: Any solid color, professional - no graphics, logos, denim, or designs

This facility is a Level IV Trauma Center with 100 beds total and a 28-bed telemetry unit averaging 20-22 patients per day. The unit is supported by a charge RN with a reduced patient assignment, a health unit coordinator until 11:00 PM, phlebotomy for peripheral lab draws, respiratory therapy available 24/7, hospitalist coverage 24/7, and OT/PT/ST services during the day. Centralized telemetry monitoring with tele techs is available, along with a central monitor at the nurses station.
