Job description

The Director of Sales isresponsible for generating top line revenue to meet or exceed budgetexpectations for this first class, select service hotel. The sales officeconsists of one sales manager selling multiple markets such as Corporate,SMERF, Government, Tour and Travel, intermediaries, etc.
ESSENTIONALDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Achieve or exceed individual, team sales goals and hotel budgets.
• Developing and implementing effective sales strategies to maximizerevenue generation.
• Prepare annual/quarterly/monthly salesstrategy reports.
• Direct and participate in the salesefforts of the hotel.
• Promptly follow-up on leads andadminister group and corporate contracts.
• Ability to negotiate rates with aclient creating a win-win situation for both client and hotel.
• Communicate to other department's anyand all special request you may have for guests.
• Attend trade shows, conventions andparticipate with local events and network at chamber events.
• Cultivate and source leads throughcold calls, telemarketing, direct sales, and networking.
• Maintain rapport with competitorhotels, lead sources, clients and the local community.
• Submit weekly sales reports to RegionalDirector of Sales.
• Work closely with General Manager andFront Desk on Revenue Management strategies.
• Develop and implement specialpromotions to increase business from specific market segments.
• Possess and utilize excellent timemanagement skills.
• Assist in company wide sales blitzactivities.
• Using corporate Revenue Management resources to help make informeddecisions and maximize revenue.
• Developing and maintaining positive relationships with peers, competitorsand brand partners.
• Adjusting strategy based on market conditions and market segment knowledge.
• Ensure the property is maximizing the use of all company, brandand local resources and programs for market presence and promotions.
Responsible for accurately entering reservations and groupbookings into the PMS system, collecting and verifying payment methods fromguests, and monitoring group/room block cut-off dates and allocations. Theyensure timely collection of guest payments, follow up on outstanding balances,and maintain clear communications. Additionally, the Sales Manager reconcilespayments and charges, resolving any discrepancies to ensure accurate financialrecords and smooth coordination between sales, operations, and accountingteams.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidatemust have a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Director of Sales(DOS), equivalent with a proven track record of success. The minimum qualifications for this position are:
• Minimum of two years' experience managing or leading a hotel's sales effort.
• Extensive knowledge of forecasting sales and interpreting/analyzing resultsto plan and conducting budgetary analysis.
• Extensive knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, recruiting,supervising, training and motivating managers.
• Demonstrated ability to understand customer requirements and translatingthese into sales solutions.
• Track record of leading and inspiring teams to meet or exceed sales goals.
• Excellent communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel as needed.
• Ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action.
• Strong organizational skills including follow up, time management, ability tomulti-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
