Position Background and Scope

Teledyne Brown Engineering has provided software engineering, modeling and simulation, and advanced analytics in support of DoD operational readiness since 2001.

We are seeking a Power Platform Engineer to join our Advanced Analytics team whose mission is to provide insights and solve problems in support of DOD missions and force readiness.

This team provides custom analytic findings and develops, maintains, and delivers decision support capability tools for DOD customers to include administrators and planners at Echelons I, II, and III. The primary objective of the role is to work directly with our customers to identify requirements, convert requirements into functioning prototypes, and support the customer community in their use of the tools.

Position Summary

Teledyne is seeking a Power Platform Engineer to support business application development efforts within the DOD. The candidate will work with internal subject matter experts, data scientists, business analysts, and data engineers to identify opportunities and to execute and maintain projects of executive interest.The candidate will work with external leadership, managers, and technical staff across DOD organizations and develop technical solutions for business problems.

The candidate will participate in the planning and development of Power Platform applications and automated business process solutions that support, modernize, and streamline organizational operations. This is a hybrid remote work position while residing within commuting distance of San Antonio, TX to support occasional in-person meetings. Position will require occasional travel in support of customer requirements.

Position Responsibilities

Solution Development & Deployment:

  • Design, develop, and deploy applications and automated workflows using Power Apps and Power Automate to enhance user experience and improve operational efficiency.
  • Research and develop proof-of-concept (PoC) products for special client requirements and new capabilities.
  • Create wireframes and mockups for pre-development review and approval.

Technical Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting support for Power Platform applications, workflows, and other solution components.
  • Monitor and resolve issues related to Power Platform solutions, ensuring their reliability, functionality, and performance.

Testing & Validation

  • Perform unit and comprehensive testing on own solution as part of the development process. Participate in integration testing as needed.
  • Create test cases for internal quality assurance (QA) and user acceptance testing (UAT), and document outcomes to support readiness and approval decisions.
  • Assist UAT effort; may lead live UAT sessions as needed.

Requirements Gathering & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements, gather and document user needs, and translate these into technical specifications.
  • Conduct user training and create documentation to support user adoption and proper usage of developed solutions.
  • Perform live or recorded solution demonstration for various audience groups.

Security, Compliance, & Best Practices:

  • Ensure solutions adhere to agency and government security standards, compliance policies, and best practices for Power Platform development.
  • Stay up to date on M365/Power Platform updates, security enhancements, and compliance protocols, making recommendations to enhance solutions.

Data Integration & Management:

  • Integrate Power Platform solutions with other M365 services, including SharePoint, Teams, and external databases as needed.
  • Build and manage Dataverse data models, tables, and relationships.
  • Build and manage SharePoint data sources and file repositories, and other data systems as needed.
  • Manage and maintain data sources, connections, and permissions to ensure secure, seamless data access and integration.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, enhance solution performance, and automate repetitive tasks.
  • Experiment with new features and updates within the Power Platform suite to propose and implement innovative solutions.

Qualifications

Proven experience in:

  • Power Apps development (canvas with Power Fx and model-driven with business rules)
  • Power Automate cloud flow development with dynamic expressions
  • Dataverse data connection, modeling, table and relationship creation
  • Integration with M365 services (SharePoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Solution packaging and deployment

Preferred qualifications

  • Integration with external systems (SQL, Oracle, etc.)
  • JavaScript for Dataverse form scripting
  • HTML with CSS styling
  • Microsoft Dataflow
  • Power Automate desktop flow (PAD robotic process automation)
  • Power Platform certifications (PL-900, 100, 200, 400, 500, 600)

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, science, or a related field and 5+ years of IT development experience or a master's degree and 3+ years of IT development experience.
  • Power Platform development experience is preferred.
  • Superb communication skills with the ability to elicit goals, needs, and outcomes with stakeholders and leadership at all levels across different functions.
  • Successfully works independently with keen attention to detail.
  • Possesses or is able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
