At Jacobs our ICT Telecom Section Manager manages the telecommunications scope on all data center projects in the group as assigned by the ICT Department Manager. This position will play a role in the entire design process including but not limited to:

  • Preliminary assessments
  • Concept creation
  • Overseeing designs with support from your team of SME’s, project leads, and designers
  • Internal and external problem resolution
  • Customer and vendor accessibility

As an ICT Telecom Section Manager, you’ll provide technical design leadership of systems for data center buildings which include structured cabling systems, telecom room design, inside plant and outside plant design. The ICT Telecom Section Manager will work on several concurrent projects and will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time.

Responsibilities include:
  • Organizing and assigning a team of leads across various projects and clients
  • Project forecasting and staffing resources
  • Budgeting resources for multiple projects
  • Guiding and mentoring project leads throughout the design process
  • DIV 27 specification review and modification
  • Conducting site visits
  • Review of technical documents
  • Managing the relationship with internal and external stakeholders
  • Active communication with the department manager and the telecom leads to ensure deadlines are being met

Here's what you'll need

  • Associate’s degree in electrical engineering, or related engineering discipline
    • If no degree, then a high school diploma will be considered for the right person.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience actively leading designs for Telecommunications structured cabling systems
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience of managing a small team
  • Credential as an RCDD or can obtain within a year of start date
  • Experience working on the construction of data centers
  • Thorough knowledge of ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards
  • Thorough knowledge of NFPA 70 and how it applies to telecommunications structured cabling systems
  • Familiarity working with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and Revizto
  • Self-motivation to coordinate with other disciplines, project managers and clients
  • Excellent project management and communication skills
  • Experience with responding to RFP’s
  • Experienced in creating a budget for a project
  • Experienced in creating and maintaining a project schedule
  • Experienced in identifying and mitigating company risk
Ideally, You'll Also Have:
  • Active PE license
  • Experience working on other low voltages systems which include
    • Audio/Visual
    • Wireless (Public Safety DAS)

The base salary range for this position is $90,000.00 to $125,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
