Job description

Highland Hospital is seeking an experiences switchboard operator to work full time with a mid day shift. 
Essential Duties include:
  1. Operate Amtelco/Spok automated answering telephone system, receiving all internal and external calls for Highland Hospital and Patient Information, as well as internal operator calls in a pleasant, helpful and professional manner.   Direct all calls to the appropriate patient, department or staff member as quickly & efficiently as possible.

Maintain a full understanding of and manage all incoming calls to the hospital Stat line, following all emergency processes based on the incoming call.  These include adult code teams, pediatric codes, Amber Alerts, OB codes, Stroke Codes, Critical Security incidents, Command Center Activations (HIMS/Disaster), Utility Alerts, Mert Responses, HPOD activations, Dart Team Codes, and Malignant Hyperthermia team Code, as well as Rapid Response process.

  6. Update and maintain an average of 70 on-call schedules for hospital system to assure accuracy, which will update Web Paging system for system-wide access.

  8. Manage pager devices and Spok apps for the hospital, swap broken pagers for staff members as necessary, updating programming in Amtelco/Spok to update Web Paging system for system-wide access.  Process paperwork for pager and Spok app activations and cancellations to assure appropriate billing.

  10. Monitor and manage all system alarms, including fire alarms, panic alarms, door alarms, refrigerator alarms, area of refuge alarms, and door intercoms.
  11.  
  12. Manage and operate overhead paging system as needed for all emergency annunciated communication.

  14. Assists in training new Telecommunications Rep staff in job functions, hospital protocols, and departmental policies and procedures.

  16. Monitor and dispatch via two-way radio as necessary for communication with Security and Facilities departments.
Salary Range:
$17.50 - $22.60 an hour
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
