Job description

Reporting Directly to the Automation Supervisor as part of the Electrical Maintenance department. You will ensure the effective use of communications systems at Agnico Eagle Mines (AEM) Macassa Mine. You may also help in the design of systems and help assess the effectiveness of communications technology resources already in use or new systems that are being implemented. You will ensure that the communications goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the Environment.  

  • Repair, install, configure, and maintain VHF telecommunication installations such as:  

  • -Motorola MotoTRBO System (Repeaters, Mobile and Portable Radios, VHF);  

-Antenna Systems (Filters, Leaky Feeder); o Radio over Fiber Optic;  

-Systems Management: Motorola Radio Manager, Becker Varis SmartCom.  

  • Repair, install, configure and maintain LTE telecommunication installations such as: Nokia/Ericsson Private LTE, Ambra Solutions Private LTE;  

  • Wi-Fi based systems such as: TeleOperation, Cisco, Aruba, Ubiquity, Rajant;  

  • Escalation point for more complex telecom issues from, Electricians, Operations;  

  • Provide technical support to internal clients;  

  • Maintain diagrams and systems documentation;

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Community college program at least 2 years in length or equivalent in:  

  • Electronics Engineering; 

  • Telecommunications;  

  • Wireless Systems Engineering;  

  • Network Administration.  

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the telecommunications field with the following specific experience:  

2 years Motorola radios (MotoTRBO);

2 years Becker Varis SmartCom;

2 years LTE;

2 years network administration.  

  • Demonstrated deep knowledge of Radio Frequency Systems.  

  • Excellent written and verbal skills in English;  

  • Experience in an Underground Mining environment is required;  

  • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.  

  • Amateur Radio Certification an asset;  

  • Experience in a Mineral Processing Mill is an asset;

  • Knowledge of Fiber optic Systems is an asset.  

YOUR WORK SCHEDULE:

    • Schedule:  7 days on and 7 days off at our Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake, ON;  

    • Occasional Travel to other mine sites.
