Job description

SUMMARY

The Project Manager Commissioning provides technical review and recommendations related to design, specifications, construction, and turnover of projects to ensure project quality and its effective integration into building operations and maintenance. The Project Manager - Commissioning works with technical team members, third party consultants, and contractors.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliverables

  • Oversee the development, planning and implementation of the commissioning oversight process within project scope, schedule, budget, and BGIS/client procedural requirements.
  • As a specialist, provide oversight over basis of design, specifications and drawings including commissioning specifications, contractor engagement, systems start-up & performance verification testing coordination, operations, and maintenance documentation review.

Team Support

  • Communicates with Commissioning Oversight Manager, Project Managers, Property Managers, BGIS technical personnel, 3rd party commissioning agents and other resources to meet the commissioning oversight deliverables for a project.
  • Works as a team to ensure continuous improvement of the commissioning oversight delivery process.
  • Provides ongoing operational support to the property team, including building assessments and capital planning support.
  • Supports facility operational teams with re-commissioning and retro commissioning activities. 
  • Effectively communication with both internal and external clients
  • Skilled in technical report writing.
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • University or college degree in related field, electrical, mechanical, or building systems engineering preferred.
  • Seven to ten years of experience in building operations or in the construction industry
  • Five to ten years of experience in commissioning related activities.
  • Familiar with National and Provincial standards and building codes. 
  • Familiar with modern practices and typical building equipment/systems and site services.
  • Strong understanding of the construction sector.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop, analyze and understand complex processes.
  • Sound judgment skills based on observation of objective evidence.
  • Ability to perform with minimum direct supervision.
  • English is required because you will be dealing with English-speaking customers as part of your job.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • BCxA - Certified Commissioning Professional or equivalent certification or able to apply and obtain such certification
  • Member of Professional Engineers Association is an asset
  • Engineering Technician or College diploma in Engineering technology or any other equivalent designation is an asset
  • Valid Driver's License
