Job description

Job Title: Telecommunications Systems Engineer (Communications & ICT Infrastructure)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Telecommunications Systems Engineer to serve as a technical scope lead for complex building and infrastructure design projects. In this role, you will lead telecommunications engineering packages in close collaboration with multidisciplinary project teams, including architects, structural engineers, and MEP design leads.
This is a technical leadership and design role requiring hands-on expertise in structured cabling systems, Outside Plant (OSP) distribution, communication room layouts, and low-voltage network topology. You will work directly with client counterparts to translate operational needs into fully coordinated 2D sheets and 3D BIM models utilizing Revit MEP and AutoCAD. If you excel at designing scalable ICT systems and leading technical teams within high-tech construction projects, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Telecommunications Design & Systems Architecture
• Scope Leadership: Serve as the primary telecommunications design owner for complex projects, leading design packages from concept through construction administration.
• Infrastructure Design: Engineer Outside Plant (OSP) routing, inter-/intra-building backbone distribution systems, telecommunication room layouts, rack elevations, and pathway designs.
• Field & Schedule Assets: Produce accurate wired/wireless device layouts, detailed cable schedules, and technical construction specifications.
• Specialized Systems: Support the integration of paging, intercom, audio-visual (AV), and network control topologies into overall facility models.
BIM Modeling & Multidisciplinary Coordination
• 3D BIM Delivery: Utilize Revit MEP and AutoCAD to develop fully coordinated 3D Building Information Modeling (BIM) deliverables.
• Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Coordinate directly with architecture, MEP, and structural leads to ensure clash-free technology integration.
• Client Engagement: Interface directly with client technical representatives to define system requirements, functional parameters, and project milestones.
Standards Compliance & Technical Oversight
• Codes & Standards: Ensure all designs, calculations, and pathway fill ratios comply strictly with TIA/EIA standards, BICSI practices, and NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code).
• Estimation & Quality Control: Prepare cost estimates, design schedules, and technical documentation for small-to-medium design scopes.
• Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior designers, drafters, and support staff on project delivery expectations.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: Two-year technical degree or four-year degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical industry experience).
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of 4 years of progressive professional experience in telecommunications design and construction engineering.
• Technical Mastery:
oStrong working knowledge and application of TIA/EIA standards and BICSI design practices.
oSolid grounding in NFPA 70 (NEC) electrical and telecommunication requirements.
oDemonstrated experience leading telecommunications scopes on active design projects.
oExperience preparing project schedules, engineering estimates, and construction specifications.
Preferred Attributes
• 3+ years of telecommunications design experience in mission-critical or advanced technology environments (e.g., semiconductor fabrication facilities, data centers, or pharmaceuticals).
• Active industry certifications from BICSI or equivalent bodies:
oRCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer)
oDCDC (Data Center Design Consultant)
oOSP (Outside Plant Specialist)
oRTPM (Registered Telecommunications Project Manager)
• Advanced proficiency in 3D BIM coordination using Autodesk Revit MEP.
