Job description

Overview

Abacus Technology is seeking a Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Engineer to provide technical support for the Technical Advisory and Assistance Services (TAAS) program at Hanscom AFB.ย  This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities
  • Support and conduct simulation studies to include but not limited to system and component performance, engineering trade-offs, system effectiveness, cost, and logistics.
  • Review/model work for compliance with regulations and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain modeling best practices.
  • Analyze complex problems.
  • Develop relevant models and constraints to run complex dynamic structural, thermal, or other analyses.
  • Review and support work to develop appropriate models to solve complex weapon system issues, to include networking and communications.
  • Develop and apply advanced software and systems methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced technical problems.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and plan methods of approach and organize means to achieve solutions of complex technical problems.
  • Conduct investigations and tests of considerable complexity.
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or services.
  • Provide technical consultation to technical staff or other organizations.
  • Work with a team of analysts onsite at Hanscom AFB and with Government clients to verify the correct intelligence data required for key modeling and simulation analyses, including models that range from engineering to mission level.
  • Work with internal and external organizations to gather required capabilities and performance (C&P) data for classified threat systems to ensure proper characterization of the threat models.
  • Apply analysis tools, object models, and analytical techniques to support mission-level analyses, to include the performance of military communication networks, susceptibility to threats (kinetic, EMP, Cyber, etc.), concept alternatives characterization, development planning, and the analysis of new systems, technologies, effectiveness, and lethality.
  • Employ Digital Engineering, Digital Thread, Digital Twin techniques across system Lifecycle.
  • Apply and support digital engineering concepts and techniques throughout the program lifecycle, such as providing technical support to Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to incorporate communications systems and Modular Open System Architectures (e.g. Open Mission Systems) on host platforms with an NC3 mission to enable NC3 modernization.
Qualifications

5+ years experience in engineering.ย  Bachelor's degree in a related field.ย  Knowledge and experience must include reviewing modeling work for compliance with regulations and best practices; developing and maintaining modeling best practices; analyzing complex problems; developing relevant models and constraints to run complex dynamic structural, thermal or other analyses; and reviewing and supporting work to develop appropriate models to solve complex weapon system issues including networking and communications.ย  Experience with software engineering with a modeling and simulation, radar, or communications background.ย  Experience with RF and Antenna modeling and simulation.ย  Experience with technical writing and working in a research environment.ย  Experience with command and control processes.ย  Experience with LVC environment.ย  Able to assess RF performance with software.ย  Able to adapt current and outside sourced models, as needed.ย  Experience with analysis, including modeling and simulation tools, such as System Tool Kit (STK), AFSIM software tool, Riverbed Modeler, or similar tools, experience in data management, ability to compose documentation, analysis reports, and briefings.ย  Experience coding in MATLAB, Simulink, or C++.ย  Must possess excellent statistical analysis or operations research skills.ย  Must be a US citizen and hold a current Top Secret clearance.

The projected compensation range for this position is $135,600-$152,000. There are multiple factors that can impact a final salary, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (if remote or different from the stated location for this position), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
