About the Position
As an Associate Principal Engineer in the Data Center group, you will be responsible for performing engineering design and analysis under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer. You will be responsible for supporting client projects and providing a quality deliverable that is on time and within the defined budget.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $175,000 / year
The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.
This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Works closely with Technical Directors and the Vice President, acting as a subject matter expert on the most complex projects within the Civil / Structural department
  • Performs the review of detailed structural design and engineering for all aspects of electric power substations including but not limited to interconnecting utility documents, multi-disciplinary coordination, and BOP plant design
  • Typical design products might include general arrangements, elevations, plan and profile drawings, grading plans, road plans, foundation plan and details, structural steel drawings and details, bus and connection details, bill of materials, building plan, conductor stringing tables, fence details, permitting, and drainage plans
  • Writes and reviews material, construction, and steel specifications
  • Reviews submittals for conformance with specifications and design
  • Assists with the creation and enforcement of technical standards across the department
  • Prepares hand and computer-based calculations and models for structural designs. Employee should create a simple hand check to quantify the computer aided results
  • Prepares a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including cost estimates, budget reports, proposals, and studies for complex projects
  • Performs field inspection and construction supervision services when needed
  • Checks the work of designers, drafters, and engineers for overall quality and accuracy as required
  • Maintains a strong understanding and comprehension of applicable Codes and Standards
  • Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work
  • Attends safety training and follows safety rules and guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned
Must Have
  • Education: Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, civil/structural or mechanical option preferred
  • Experience: 7+ years of relevant engineering or field experience
  • Licensure: PE preferred
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, MathCAD, modeling, and design software such as SAP2000, PLS-CADD, and AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
